Invalid scanning devices such as webcams should be automatically blacklisted.

Reported by onyxfish | February 21st, 2009 @ 09:10 PM

Is there a way of filtering these devices other than by parsing their names? At the very least devices that do not have the necessary options for NoStaples to function (resolution, mode, etc.) should be automatically blacklisted.

Actually it would be better to keep a separate "Unsupported devices" list. Each time the available scanners are updated all devices are validated to ensure that they have the necessary options (mode, resolution, etc) and those that don't are removed from the available scanners list and added to the unsupported devices list. This list is not persisted, so an upgraded backend could re-enable an unsupported device.
